I'm an anti-pirate and I normally only fly with my alt. Seems our problems are far different. I got pirates in my system that won't realease thier deathgrip on the station with anything less than 3 to 1 odds.
Take this for instance. Pirate "A" warps to the gate where me and my alt were sitting. Me having a domi and a scorpion (non EW scorp). Pirate "A" waits at the gate for me to attack then he fires.
At this point, I know his gang would show up soon and he would deaggro and jump if need be. He has done this dozens of times already. The result is me telling a friend on the other side of the gate in a Hyperion to jump in and open fire.
About this time, the pirates gang has approched, but not to the gate. The warp to a nearby safespot. The scanner shows them up as Abaddon, anouther Abaddon, and Raven... also the Drake we are firing at.
So at my side was my Dominix, the Hyperion, and the tanking support scorpion (no weapons). The 4 man gang that consisted of bigger ships in a bigger quantity moved from thier SS back to the station. Niether being seen or helping thier friend.
These guys seem to have no problems against the industrial ships, and mission runners that come through thier gate camps to find themselves in a 5-6 vs 1 gank.
It generally applies that pirates are nothing more than a group of cowards. As always, It's the many that give the few a bad name. I've known plenty of great Pirates.
At one time, I was a full time pirate myself. Always flying around solo and often putting myself in impossible odds were I was the one far outnumbered. Often times with odds being up around 5 to 1 against me.
It's actually a rarity to find such a pirate. I do know there are many out thier though. Being a rarity, they can often be far underestimated. Such pirates can push thier own limits and come out with alot of big losses but the result is that they have to learn to be some of the best PVPers in EVE. -------------------------------------- ---"What's in your wallet?"--- "There are two kinds of respect, fear and admiration....
